Guided by our expert chef, you’ll learn the foundations of classic French cookery, from artisan baking and pastry skills to the careful preparation of elegant savoury dishes.

Throughout the day, you’ll explore the principles that make French food so enduringly popular—mastering essential techniques, understanding how to build depth of flavour, and learning the importance of balance, texture, and presentation. From rustic countryside favourites to refined café classics, this class will give you the confidence to recreate authentic French dishes in your own kitchen and bring a touch of France to your home entertaining.

The day begins with coffee and a relaxed chat with your chef, where you’ll hear about the dishes you’ll be making. Then it’s into the kitchen for a mix of demonstrations and hands-on cookery, where you’ll knead, whisk, bake, simmer, and prepare your way through a selection of classic French favourites.

We believe great cooking is all about confidence with techniques—not just following a recipe. You’ll work alongside fellow students in a relaxed, supportive environment, learning valuable skills you can recreate at home. For some dishes, prep may be done in advance so you can focus on the most rewarding parts of the process.

We don’t hand out printed recipes during the class so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience. A full recipe pack will be emailed to you after the session, and our chefs are always happy to answer any questions during or afterwards.

There will be a short break for lunch where you’ll head to the dining room to enjoy your culinary creations with a glass of wine or a soft drink.

If you’d like to take any food home with you, please bring suitable containers. Please note – we are unable to accept any responsibility or liability for food taken out of the cookery school.

Time:
10am – 3pm

When to arrive:
Please arrive 10 minutes before the class begins. You’ll be welcomed into our coffee lounge for a chat with your chef ahead of the session.

What to wear:
Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe, non-slip footwear. An apron will be provided for you to use during the class.

What to bring:
All equipment and ingredients are provided. If you’d like to take home any food you prepare, please bring suitable containers. Please note – we are unable to accept any responsibility or liability for food taken out of the cookery school.
