Bread Baking: From Classic Loaves to Sweet Treats

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread—and in this hands-on class, you’ll discover just how accessible and satisfying bread making can be. Whether you’re kneading your first loaf or ready to push your skills to the next level, our expert chefs will guide you through the techniques behind a variety of delicious breads, from savoury staples to indulgent sweet bakes.

You’ll start with a foolproof easy white loaf, and then move on to explore enriched doughs, like a light and fluffy honey and saffron brioche, and pillowy chocolate doughnuts. You’ll also learn how to master flatbreads and soda breads, including Lebanese flatbread, seeded soda bread, and a fragrant classic focaccia—perfect for sharing.

The day begins with coffee and a friendly introduction from your chef, followed by kitchen demonstrations that bring each technique to life. Then it’s your turn to get stuck in—mixing, kneading, shaping and baking under expert guidance.

At the heart of this class is our belief that great cooking is about understanding techniques, not just following recipes. You’ll work in small groups in a fun, supportive environment. Some prep may be done in advance by our chefs to help maximise your hands-on time and learning.

We don’t provide printed recipes during the session so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience, but you’ll receive a full recipe pack by email after the class. Our chefs are always happy to answer your questions throughout the day—and beyond.

There will be a short break for lunch where you’ll head to the dining room to enjoy your culinary creations with a glass of wine or soft drink.

If you’d like to take any of your bakes home, please bring suitable containers. Please note – we are unable to accept responsibility or liability for food taken out of the cookery school.
